One lesson I have come to learn over the years in ministry is that even when you’re trying to do the right thing…a good thing…a positive thing…the very thing God has called you to do, not everyone around you will celebrate what you’re doing.
As a matter of fact, one indication that you are exactly where God wants you to be, doing the very thing He called you to do is that there will be an element of people (I call them haters) who will rise up against you, criticize you, slander you, and even try to block you from doing the work God has called you to do. The more momentum grows…the more God advances His kingdom through you…the greater the stories of transformed lives…the more vocal and desperate the haters get.
I’ll be honest. At times this can be extremely frustrating and discouraging. But it’s during these times we must remember the promises of VICTORY that God has given us.
This morning in my daily Scripture reading, God so encouraged me with several direct promises from His Word.
- Genesis 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
In this passage Joseph was displaying forgiveness toward his haters (his brothers) by acknowledging that even though their intentions were evil and harm for Joseph, God had a bigger plan to use their wickedness for good…for saving the lives of many people. So haters beware, my God is unstoppable! He will use your acts of evil to advance His purposes.
- Matthew 16:18 “…I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.”
Jesus promised that he would build his church and not even all the powers of hell could overcome it! So haters beware, my God is unstoppable! Take your best shot, but you cannot stand against the church that God is building!
- Psalms 21:11 Although they plot against you, their evil schemes will never succeed.
Haters beware, my God is unstoppable!
