These are exciting times for The RESCUE Church! Before I share an amazing update with you let me begin by giving you some important background information:
Back in 2009 God clearly spoke a vision into my heart for the church he has called me to lead. He told me to prepare and mobilize our church because He is calling us to plant campuses of our church in rural communities all across South Dakota…and beyond! At the time I had no idea what that would even look like, but to make a very long story short, God has been showing us a model of church growth called “Multi-site Church Planting”. The definition of a multi-site church is “one church that meets in multiple locations”.
Since the early days of this journey we have been praying about and “targeting” the community of Colman, South Dakota (population 400) to launch our first campus in. This past summer God answered and confirmed our questions as to whether or not Colman was His choice for us when we were approached by a church group in Colman that was getting ready to close their doors. They had heard about our vision and they were curious if we might be interested in their building. So over the course of several conversations and meetings they actually decided to GIVE us their facility for nothing more than the cost of the legal fees to transfer the title!
It took a few months for all the paperwork to be completed, but PRAISE GOD, this past week we officially became the owners of a beautiful church building in Colman! And to make it even better…the attorney did not charge us anything for his time! We had to pay a $12 filing fee at the Moody County Courthouse. That’s it. Our early plan was to begin holding services for the Colman Campus in the Colman Community Center or in the high school gymnasium or something like that, but God has given us an actual church building for $12! Praise the name of Jesus!
So with that we are one step closer to seeing this vision become a reality. In the very near future we will begin meeting with our Colman Campus launch team to prepare for the launch of that campus which will happen in January 2012 at the earliest or, Lord willing, Easter Sunday 2012 at the latest. Stay tuned for more exciting news in the days ahead and join me in praying for many souls to come to know Jesus Christ in Colman and the surrounding communities in 2012!
